I definitely held off on the 'gross out' drawings this year. Was just havin fun since I borrowed most of the art supplies used to make these. The con was awesome. Cripple Con is the perfect mix of laid back and competitiveness and debauchery which adds up to more fun than most. I'll definitely be there next year!

This is a bit of concept work for a sequel of There Will Be Blood.
So far I have some storyboards nailed out, I hope to have a scene in flash for it too.
I have no real idea how far I want to take this, but suffice it to say that TWBB was one of my favorite movies of 2008.
The sequel involves Daniel Plainview's son and offshore oil drilling!

Cripple sketches are going up as soon as I can chase them down from Anne. (This means you bush!)

Another b/w thing.
This one is fast and loose, although I think I'd have loved to do the type in a digital typeface if I had the time again. Although just for the time/location/dj info.
Definitely come to the show for the ja-mazing sweet potato fries, my favorite type of fry! Tons of other middle eastern snacks too, yum. The older I get all I care about is fooood. Droool. :D

Design for screenprint for a teeshirt for a convention/get together for a group of artists.
I always thought a bear suit or something would be great camouflage if I had to run about frequently in the forest at night trying not to be seen!

I painted this mural over spring break. It was a last minute thing for the company (Cedar Fair-for you park types) that asked me to do it. Therefore it paid well, which is always much needed this time of year for me. My original suggestion was for me to make it digitally and just apply a couple of large stickers to the wall. However that's what the original designer wanted to do and was apparently charging way too much for them. So this is the very likely the only hand painted mural left in Kings Dominion Theme Park. The object of the game is to knock all of the shark's teeth down with 3 soft fabric balls. I tried like 9 times and knocked some teeth in once, but that's okay because Jack Currier actually hit one of the teeth and watched the ball bounce off. (Sorry Jack, stick to painting, bud ;)

size = 4- 5' wide panels x 12'-ish tall = about 240 sq. feet of painting.

Jack and I did most of the heavy lifting in two days, (the second being his birthday.) Then I finished most of the small stuff and clearcoated the third day. S'lotta painting.

During the day. The more empty space in the middle will have lots of plush to pick from if you win the game. Which is sitting on the ground in front of the game in this picture.

I had to roll on four coats of clear to withstand the balls that will be constantly thrown at the painting.

The part I liked the best, each whale has a different type of eyeball.

Surreal green green milk machines

Eighteen hour road trip to kansas city gave me the time to contemplate my surroundings. Which happened to be the bread basket/beer belly of america. Caught sight of a few factory farms. Made me think of the inevitable process of comodification of most industries (including art for hire--> commercial art--> graphic design--> stock design.) Depressing as this seems to me, i'd decided to find out what kind of ideas people had to prevent this or turn it around. Vermont has some great artisan cheeses that has turned low outputs and slower processes into successful profit margins and sustainability. Sprinkle in a bit of whimsy aaaanndd... here's a guy mining for vermont gold!

crits are encouraged.

also here's another image i made based on the trip. i imagined this could have been a very long vertical piece that just showed an endless pattern with the occasional disturbance cropping up. instead i just made it square.

Antigua has developed an internationally successful little internet gaming industry. The U.S. has sent them a bill to tax each citizen that has spent U.S. dollars on a gambling site. Antigua is not paying and the WTO is on their side. So here comes the smear campaign saying that Antigua is a haven for illegal internet activities including pirating software, music, and money laundering.

Basically, you can't get blood from a turnip, fellas.
